No vote, no voice – it’s as simple as that. Rother District Council is getting the message across to residents that if they aren’t on the electoral register they won’t be able to take part in the district or parish elections to be held next year. Neither will people be entitled to vote in the upcoming national referendum on proportional representation.

RESIDENTS URGED TO REPLY TO VOTER REGISTER

By the end of August, households will have received their voter registration forms. The details on the forms need to be confirmed if there are no changes or corrected and sent back to the Council if there are. Confirming correct details is now easier than ever before – residents can text in their confirmation on 80212. A code number for texting can be found on your voter registration form. You can also visit the website at www.registerbyinternet.com/rother or freephone 0800 197 6193.

If alterations need to be made to the form, please make them and then post it back in the envelope provided. Rother District Council appointed canvassers, carrying clear identification, will soon be paying visits to households who have not returned their forms. This a legal obligation the Council must meet.
